Kate Middleton Was Inked With a Henna Tattoo at Her Recent Royal Visit
The royal family has received a wide mix of gifts over the years from well-wishers, including fabric gnomes (???) for Prince William and a hobby horse for Princess Charlotte. But on a recent royal visit, Kate Middleton received a next-level present: body art.
On Wednesday the duchess of Cambridge accompanied her husband to the opening of a fire station in Sunderland in northeast England. The building has been converted into a hub for local artists, and during their visit the royal couple was treated to performances and conversations with children and artists. One of the artists also offered to treat Kate to some impromptu body art, and she happily obliged, People reports.
The artist used natural brown henna to decorate the Kate’s right hand with a small flower.

Andy Commins/WPA Pool/Getty ImagesThe design was created by 18-year-old Shajida Begum. “I said, ‘Would you like a design?’ and she was like, ‘Yes, if you don’t mind,’” Begum told reporters. “She was saying that it was really pretty. I was just telling her how it works. I was telling her when she can wash it off—I said, ‘When it becomes flaky.’”
After, Kate threw her hair in a ponytail and popped on a hard hat and safety goggles to visit Sunderland’s new Northern Spire bridge, which is set to open this spring. The duchess did her part to help out by tightening a bolt, E! News reports. All in a hard day's work, am I right?
