Kate Middleton Will Host a Special Christmas Carol Service Next Month
Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, will host a special Christmas community carol service at Westminster Abbey next month to honor "the incredible work of individuals and organisations across the nation who have stepped up to support their communities through the pandemic," Kensington Palace announced today.
Supported by The Royal Foundation, the festive event will take place on December 8. Entertainment will include carols sung by Westminster Abbey's world-renowned choir, as well as readings and musical performances from a variety of guests, encompassing people of all faiths.
Further guests will include people involved with grassroots initiatives and charity work, as well as dedicated teachers, emergency responders, and armed forces personnel. Members of the community who are especially vulnerable to COVID-19, and have thus spent more time isolated, will also be present.
On Instagram, the duchess posted a preview of the event's official invitation. The picture shows a white invitation card with black lettering that also bears Kate's royal insignia: the letter C with a crown.
"The service, which will be broadcast in December, will look back on the last eighteen months," the caption read, "to think not only of the unprecedented challenges that we have all faced as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, but also to remember the positives: people and organisations pulling together in their communities, the small acts of kindness across different demographics and generations, and the unsung heroes who stepped up to help others."
The event has been developed in partnership with Westminster Abbey and BBC Studios Events Productions, and will be broadcast by ITV as part of a special December program.
