Kate Middleton Was Easy to Spot in a Striking Yellow Hat for 2019's Trooping the Colour
The Duchess of Cambridge turned out for this year's Trooping the Colour in one of classic, monochromatic looks, arriving by carriage alongside Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle. To mark the occasion of the Queen's annual birthday parade, Kate chose a pale yellow coat dress and a matching yellow hat.
The sophisticated updo and subtle makeup and jewelry, along with a single color that she carries through both her dress and hat, has become a signature for the Duchess. Her chignon has become slightly more elaborate as the years go on, a departure from the loose waves that marked her earlier appearances. She seems to genuinely enjoy the occasion.
The dress makes a perfect addition to Kate's long list of sophisticated Trooping the Colour styles. Last year Kate attended in an ice blue frock that coordinated beautifully with Camilla. Duchess of Cornwall's ensemble.
In 2017, she made a departure from her usual muted palette with a cheerful pink look.
For Princess Charlotte's balcony debut in 2016 she opted for a subdued cream and blush collection to let her little girl shine.
She employed a similar style in 2014 with this silvery jacket and skirt combo.
And in 2011, for her first appearance at Trooping the Colour after her marriage to Prince William that April.
Later today, we can expect to see return to the Buckingham Palace balcony once more alongside the rest of the royal family, including her son, Prince Louis, who will make his official balcony debut this afternoon.
Last year there was some speculation about whether Kate Middleton would attend the 2018 Trooping the Colour as she was still technically on maternity leave from her position as a working royal after giving birth to Louis in April, however the Duchess turned up in true form, arriving front and center alongside Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall. It's a similar situation to the one Meghan Markle faces this year, having welcomed baby Archie into the world on May 6, leaving most royals watchers to assume that Meghan will follow her sister-in-law's example and attend the ceremony this year as well.
