Kate Middleton Dresses Down in Recycled Pink Pants & Affordable White Sneakers

Kate Middleton went for a casual look on Tuesday in London. The Duchess of Cambridge met with families who have been helped by parent-support networks during the COVID-19 pandemic in Battersea Park.

For the occasion, Middleton dressed down in a pair of affordable Marks & Spencer pants, which she recycled. The look is no longer available but it retailed for $105. She wore the pink trousers in March, paired with its matching blazer and pumps, when she visited the London Ambulance Service 111 Control Room to meet with workers who have been tirelessly answering emergency service calls throughout the health crisis.

In the park, however, she swapped heels for a pair of white sneakers by Superga. The casual kicks retail for $60 and are set on canvas and a rubber sole. She completed the look with a simple, ribbed white t-shirt and gold jewelry.

In June, Middleton opted for a different pair of Superga sneakers at the Fakenham Garden Center in Norfolk, England, on her trip to visit local small businesses after the country allowed non-essential shops to reopen on June 15. This time she chose a pair of olive green low-tops, detailed with a gum sole.

But the white shoe look has been her go-to style for years. In 2017, she went on a streak, wearing the Superga Cotu Classic style on multiple occasions, resulting in the doubling of sales for the brand.

Another fan of the Italian footwear label and its clean, timeless aesthetic is Alexa Chung.

Superga and the designer have been partners for nearly a decade after Chung first modeled for the brand in her early 20s. Last year, the pair celebrated their fall ’19 campaign — which spotlights both the brand’s iconic styles and the co-branded Superga x Alexa Chung collection — at Milan Fashion Week where FN caught up with Chung to talk about the long-term partnership.

She said, “What appealed to me then was I didn’t really know any other trainers. My mom was wearing them, and for me, they were a classic, iconic item and one of those things you can have in your wardrobe for years and years. So when I had the chance to collaborate, it seemed like a more straightforward thing to do.”
