The Duchess of Cambridge paid tribute to her husband’s late mother, Princess Diana, once again at Tuesday night’s Buckingham Palace reception.

Attending the Diplomatic Reception at Buckingham Palace, the white tie dress code called for diamonds and jewels for the 1,500 people invited.

As for Kate Middleton, she opted to wear Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot tiara, a headpiece she has on long-term loan.

This is the third time the duchess has worn the tiara to the annual event, which is attended by senior royals, foreign diplomats, and other government officials.

The Lover’s Knot tiara was constructed in 1914 for Queen Mary and passed down to Queen Elizabeth who leant it out to Diana. While she wore it on multiple occasions, she reportedly said that the heft gave her frequent headaches.

The duchess first wore the grand design at her wedding to Prince William in 2011.

In addition to the tiara, the duchess wore a pair of pearl drop earrings that once belonged to Diana. A glittering diamond necklace that is believed to be from the Queen’s personal jewelry collection was draped around her neck.

As for the gown, it’s unclear who designed the pregnant royal’s dress, but bets are on Alexander McQueen or Jenny Packham as she’s big fans of both labels.

She kept her hair in a low chignon to show off the mega expensive jewels.

The Duchess was accompanied by a tuxedo-wearing Prince William with the pair making the short trip from Kensington Palace to Buckingham Palace in a Bentley.
