Kate Middleton made her first public appearance since announcing her third pregnancy on Tuesday. And while fashion critics gave the duchess glowing reviews for her baby blue Temperley London dress, body shamers weren’t so kind. Taking to social media, many called the 35-year-old, who’s expecting her third child with husband Prince William, “too thin.”

“I can’t believe she’s prego,” one commenter said on Kensington Palace’s Instagram account. “I thought she was pregnant!?” another questioned.

Others expressed concern for the duchess — who’s experiencing another bout of hyperemersis gravidarum, a severe form of morning sickness — and hoped she was feeling OK and healthy. “She’s so thin. I hope she’s doing better,” a fan of wrote.

The comments come a month after Kensington Palace revealed Middleton’s pregnancy. It’s presumed that the announcement came earlier than the royal couple would have liked, but the duchess’s absence from royal engagements had to be explained.

“Their Royal Highness The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their third child,” the statement read. “The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news.” It also noted that “as with her previous two pregnancies, The Duchess is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum.”

Indeed, the duchess missed out on accompanying Prince George to his first day of school just a few days after the announcement was made.

She was being cared for at home by her mother, Carole Middleton, and Prince William said he was looking forward to getting Kate back to full health. “It was a bit anxious to start with,” he said during his speech at National Mental Health and Policing Conference in September. He also said they hoped to “start celebrating this week” and added that there was “not much sleep going on at the moment.”
