Karl Lagerfeld Says Kim Kardashian Shouldn’t Be ‘Surprised’ She Was Robbed
By now we know that Karl Lagerfeld is a man who speaks his mind, regardless of how, um, controversial his comments are. But his latest take on Kim Kardashian’s Paris robbery is a little shocking. Reporters asked the designer what he thought about the whole thing, and his words weren’t as sympathetic as they could have been. “It’s a very bad thing for Paris,” he said. “But I don’t understand why she was in a hotel with no security.” He continued, “If you are that famous and you put all your jewelry on [social media], you go to hotels where nobody can come near to the room.”
The Chanel designer, who wrote a note to Kardashian on Monday saying, “Dearest Kim, we are all with you,” offered some criticism for the reality TV star’s penchant to flaunt her bling when asked by reporters. “You cannot display your wealth and then be surprised that some people want to share it with you.”

Lagerfeld, who himself is a fellow who enjoys the finer things in life, isn’t known for having much of a filter, but he is known for casting Kendall Jenner in several runway shows and campaigns. Last year, Lagerfeld called the model “great and modern and the girl of the moment.”
We wonder if the Kardashian-Jenner crew will respond to Karl’s rather harsh assessment, as the family does have a tendency to ferociously stick up for themselves and each other. But so far, not a peep on social media from Kim, Kendall, Kylie, Kourtney, Kris, or Khloé, who tends to be particularly outspoken when people come for her loved ones. Still, it’s clear that the Kardashian-Jenners are really shook up after the robbery, so it’s no surprise that they would come together as a family and lay low for a while. We wager Kim could use the support. However, we don’t think the family would be so inclined to respond to Karl, at least not publicly, and possibly jeopardize a relationship with a major fashion designer — particularly one who frequently employs Kendall.
But maybe they’re saving the drama for their reality show? Either way, we’re glad Kim is safe!
