After fourteen years gracing our screens, Keeping Up With The Kardashians is coming to an end. The boisterous Kardashian-Jenner family has given us 20 seasons of internet-breaking, meme-worthy moments both on and off the show. Alongside this, they’ve served up a glimpse into the world of ultimate extravagance.

At its peak in 2010 the show had 4.8 million people worldwide breathlessly tuning in, but its popularity has since waned with one episode last October garnering only 569,000 viewers. Fear not! For the family has continued to thrive on social media with Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner alone boasting 223 million and 293 million followers on Instagram respectively.

But for now, let’s look back at their most outrageously OTT luxury moments.

When Kim lost her diamond earring

In a dramatic scene in 2011, Kim went swimming in the sea in Bora Bora wearing a pair of $75,000 earrings. Apparently she was blithely indifferent to the fact that sharks are fatally attracted to glittery things. Anyway, she lost one of the rocks while splashing around in the water and, in floods of tears, told her sister Kourtney. Young Kourtney, though, was far from sympathetic, responding: "there's people that are dying, Kim.”

Kim later explained the reason for her grief: she hadn’t insured the earrings yet. “I had just gotten them,” Kim explained. “Imagine if you don't insure something and it's gone, I just threw that money [away]."

It could only happen to a Kardashian.

When Kanye West proposed

It’s well known that West is a go-hard-or-go-home kind of guy and that includes his relationships. And the rapper/entrepreneur’s 2013 proposal to Kim, costing $3 million, sticks in the mind.

West rented out the San Francisco baseball stadium, Oracle Park (known as AT&T Park at the time) and a blindfolded Kim was escorted onto the field while friends and family watched. A 50-piece orchestra serenaded her, and West got down on one knee to present a 15-carat Lorraine Schwartz diamond engagement ring, as the message "PLEEEASE MARRY MEEE!!!” flashed on the scoreboard.

A week later, West told LA-based radio station Power 106 that he commissioned three rings for the day (perhaps in case she hadn’t liked the first one?) and had planned every detail of the occasion down to the stadium lighting.

Handbags at dawn

In the early days of the show, back in 2008, Kim splurged on a black Bentley worth $190,000 to her sisters’ dismay. At the time Kim, who would have been the highest earner of the siblings by a wide margin, accused her sisters of being jealous, eventually hitting Khloe with a handbag and shouting “don’t be rude!” As Kim left the room, Khloe shouted back at her “go with your Bentley that no one [can] afford.” In retrospect, it feels as though Kim was right to suppose her siblings were perhaps a little envious...

Scott Disick becomes a lord

During a 2012 episode, Scott Disick, father of Kourtney’s children Mason Dash, 11, Penelope Scotland, 8, and son Reign Aston, six, decided to take advantage of a jaunt to Blighty to join the aristocracy. Sadly, he didn’t get the nod from HM and was forced to buy the title over the internet.

With a quick google, anyone can become a lord in the same way for as little as £30. However, on the other end of the spectrum the Lordship of the Manor of Wimbledon sold for over £150,000 in the late 1990s. But sadly the socialite’s bought bauble doesn’t allow him to style himself Lord Disick.

The Paris heist

Less entertainingly, back in 2016, Kim made headlines worldwide after she was robbed at gunpoint in a $30,000-a-week Paris apartment. The jewellery the two men got away with was worth a reported $9 million. The aftermath of the incident, including the distress it caused the star, was documented on the show. The robbery was the biggest committed against an individual in France in two decades. Most of the pieces were never found and 12 men were arrested for the crime. It was announced this February that Yunice Abbas, one of the alleged robbers, has written a book about the incident titled 'I Kidnapped Kim Kardashian’.

Wild night in Las Vegas

In a 2010 episode, Scott got so drunk while on a night out in Las Vegas for Kim’s birthday that mother Kris asked the waiter to stop serving him drinks. In a fit of rage, Scott shoved a $100 bill down the poor man’s throat.

God bless us everyone

At a Christmas Eve get-together on an episode last year, Kylie informed her family that, if Kourtney was going to host the Christmas morning event the following day, she would do her own thing with her daughter Stormi, now three. The pair couldn’t agree on how the day should be spent. “I want a really cosy, intimate moment with us and the kids,” Kourtney explained. 'I don't want servers there. I don't want housekeepers there. I don't want chefs there. I don't want a decorator setting the table. I just want it to be really fun, like how we grew up.' To hire the help or not hire the help that is the question.
