Kanye West and Irina Shayk: A Complete Relationship Timeline

Next up in relationships we didn't see coming: Kanye West has reportedly been dating Irina Shayk. Four months after Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from the rapper, he was spotted about town—that town being Paris—with the Russian supermodel.

Fast forward to August 2021 and the pair have seemingly called it quits. Here's everything we know.

October 2010

West name-checks Shayk in his song “Christian Dior Denim Flow,” which is released in October 2010. “I wanna see Irina Shayk next to Doutzen,” he raps in the first verse of the song.

A few months later, Shayk appears in his music video for “Power.” It's also worth noting that the model has walked in Yeezy fashion shows.

February 2021

In February, Kim Kardashian files for divorce after seven years of marriage. The pair share four children: North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm. Things were bubbling up for a while. “They are keeping it low-key but they are done,” a source told Page Six in January. “Kim has hired [divorce lawyer] Laura Wasser and they are in settlement talks.”

As Keeping Up With the Kardashian airs, we finally start hearing more about the divorce. “He deserves someone that can go support his every move and go follow him all over the place and move to Wyoming,” Kardashian says through tears in an episode that will air in June. “I can’t do that…. I feel like a fucking failure that it’s, like, a third fucking marriage. I feel like a fucking loser. But I can’t even think about that. I want to be happy.”

“After turning 40 this year, I realized like, ‘No, I don’t want a husband that lives in a completely different state,’” Kardashian told her mom, Kris Jenner, in the series finale, per Us Weekly. “To me, I thought, Oh, my God, that’s when we’re getting along the best, but then that is sad to me and that’s not what I want. I want someone that we have the same shows in common. I want someone who wants to work out with me.”

“Like, every single day Khloé and Tristan and I would work out at 6 a.m., the three of us, and I was third-wheeling it for a good eight months in quarantine and I was so envious of that,” Kim continued. “I was like, ‘Wow, it’s, like, the little things I don’t have.’ I have all the big things. I have the extravagant everything you can possibly imagine and no one will ever do it like that—I know that, and I’m grateful for those experiences—but I think I’m ready for the smaller experiences that I think will mean a lot.”

March 2021

While the supposed couple don't make headlines until June, sources tell TMZ that they've been together since at least March. However, sources vary. One tells E! that it's been more like weeks.

May 2021

Another source says they reconnected in May, not March. “Kanye and Irina connected recently when they were both in New York City,” the source tells E!. “They met up one night and had chemistry and hit it off. It’s very casual and they have only been in touch for about a month. Kanye has expressed he doesn’t want anything serious but likes Irina’s vibe.”

“They have been seeing each other for several weeks,” a separate source says. “Kanye has been flying in and out of New York to be with her.”

June 2021

Things go public! Per TMZ, the pair spend time in France, where they are spotted walking together around a luxury boutique hotel on June 8. According to witnesses, they appear to be an item.

According to reports, both Kardashian and Shayk's ex Bradley Cooper are supportive of the relationship. “Bradley would be fully supportive of whoever Irina chooses to date—he just wants her to be happy,” a source tells Us Weekly. “Bradley and Irina are not just on good terms as coparents; they’re also close as friends and share personal things with each other.”

“Kim doesn’t mind because she saw how quiet and respectful Irina was after she broke up with Bradley,” another source with Us Weekly says.

Apparently, West and Shayk are in a “honeymoon, lovey-dovey phase right now,” another insider tells Us Weekly. “They’re getting to know each other and having a lot of fun. It’s not serious yet, but they like each other a lot.”

July 2021

On July 14, reports suggested Shayk is cooling things off with the rapper. “Kanye and Irina aren’t speaking quite as much anymore,” a source told Us Weekly. “She wants to remain friends and keep communication open, but she’s pulling back a bit. Irina does like Kanye, but isn’t ready for so many public appearances together all over the [world] for the coming months.”

However, on July 16, a conflicting source told People that this couldn't be further from the truth. "Irina is so upset at the lies about her and Kanye," the source said. "They are very much still dating."

August 2021

Kanye West and Irina Shayk have called it quits, according to People. On August 21,a source told the publication that “it was never a serious thing that took off.”

“Kanye has been busy working and spending time with his kids,” a second source said. “This is his focus. He doesn't have time to date right now. He finds Irina amazing though. They remain friendly.”
