Kaley Cuoco in Based on a True Story : Everything We Know
After using her amateur wits to solve a murder in HBO Max's The Flight Attendant, Kaley Cuoco returns to streaming, this time on Peacock, where she will be using her amateur wits to solve a murder. If it ain't broke!
Based on a True Story follows Ava Bartlett (Cuoco), a pregnant, true-crime-obsessed Angeleno who, along with her former tennis star husband (Chris Messina), decides to try her hand at investigative podcasting. If that sounds an awful lot like Only Murders in the Building, well, you're not wrong.
Here's everything we know about the show:
What’s it about?
The Bartletts are on the brink of broke when the West Side Ripper, a local serial killer, reveals himself to be someone close to their circle. Sensing a profitable opportunity, they decide to start a podcast about the murders and lure the murderer himself on as a guest. Bodies are found along the way, as a plumber joins their detective squad. Looks to be set in Southern California. We're getting seasons 2 and 3 of You vibes. That's a compliment!
Like Only Murders, it seems to be a satire of our crime-obsessed age, as Ava is seen chatting about My Favorite Murder with her friends and listening to grisly news stories first thing in the morning. Hey look, here's a trailer!
Who’s in it?
In addition to Kaley Cuoco and Messina, the cast boasts Stranger Things's Natalia Dyer, Tom Bateman, Liana Liberato, Priscilla Quintana, and Annabelle Dexter-Jones, a.k.a. Naomi Pierce on Succession.
We also spotted Jessica St. Clair and June Diane Raphael as the blonde cohosts of the murder program Ava is watching on her phone. Perfect casting, no notes.
How many episodes are there?
According to IMDb, eight.
When does it premiere?
All episodes will be on Peacock on June 8! Grab your wine and popcorn.
