After months of practice and learning new ballroom dance styles, Kaitlyn Bristowe and Artem Chigvintsev have been declared the winners of Dancing With the Stars season 29.

The couple took home the Mirrorball Trophy in Monday night's season finale, beating out finalists Justina Machado and Sasha Farber, Nelly and Daniella Karagach, and Nev Schulman and Jenna Johnson. Last week in the semifinals, Kaitlyn and Artem shined with their Paso Doble dance. This week, they were equally impressive, earning two perfect scores from judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli in the last night of the competition.

When host Tyra Banks announced the news, Kaitlyn and Artem were absolutely thrilled — and so were their fans. On Twitter, many Dancing With the Stars viewers celebrated the crowning of a new champion couple. "IM SO HAPPY FOR KAITLYN LIKE ACTUAL QUEEN AND ARTEM WINNING HIS FIRST MIRRORBALL IM SHAKINGGGGG," one fan tweeted. "YEAAA! finally somebody wins who deserves it! Congrats Kaitlyn," another said.

Of course, given how amazing all the finalists were, some folks found themselves disappointed that their favorites didn't win the Mirrorball trophy. In particular, there were a noticeable handful of fans who thought Nev should've won instead. "Kaitlyn was phenomenal, however, that mirror ball belongs to @NevSchulman," one viewer declared. "NEV WAS ROBBED ! HE WAS THE BEST DANCER THIS SEASON . ROBBED !" another tweeted.

Nonetheless, Dancing With the Star has a new winning couple, and just like that another season of the ABC dance show has come and gone. Season 29 was certainly one for the books — with Tyra coming on as the new solo host, a surprising judge switch-up (Derek took over temporarily for Len Goodman), and all sorts of production tweaks made in light of the coronavirus pandemic, this season was truly like any other.

Unfortunately, fans will likely have to wait until next fall to catch season 30 (that is, assuming ABC renews the show). But until then, Kaitlyn and Artem should enjoy their time as the reigning champions — they certainly deserve it.
