There are three very good reasons to whip out a mini dress: It's uncomfortably hot outside, you're at an outdoor summer music festival or you're Kacey Musgraves and thus can pretty much do no wrong sartorially speaking. So, when you consider that the whole world is seemingly in the midst of a heat wave, and that Lollapalooza is practically a mating ground for crop tops and teens, it's no wonder that Musgraves spent her weekend performing in Chicago wearing only upper thigh-grazing frocks and not much else.

On Sunday, the country star sang her Grammy Album of the Year-winning LP, "Golden Hour," as well as a cover of Gloria Gaynor's popular disco hit, "I Will Survive," while sporting a simple, black spaghetti strap V-neck mini. The silhouette could have easily had a Bat Mitzvah party-goer vibe, but it was made extra special by the crystals and rhinestone detailing, which were arranged to form the shape of a butterfly — a very on-brand choice, considering "Butterflies" is the name of the third track on her latest album.

For her Saturday evening performance, the singer's stylist Erica Cloud tapped into Musgraves' glam-disco aesthetic by putting her in a glitzy, leg-baring Adam Selman Sport number. Again, the dress had a simple silhouette, but it was covered in a rainbow gradient of crystals (certainly a nod to "Rainbow"), so it was far from basic or boring. Cloud accessorized the mini dress with a pair of clear-strap, high-heel slide sandals by Schutz, which made her legs look twice as long on stage.

Here's to hoping Musgraves continues to give us more barely-there style inspiration as these scorching temperatures persist.
