K-Pop Star Goo Hara Was Found Dead

She was 28 years old.

Police have confirmed that K-pop star Goo Hara was found dead earlier today, November 24, the Associated Press reports.

According to the outlet, the 28-year-old singer was found in her home in Seoul, Korea by an acquaintance who reportedly then informed police. The cause of death has yet to be announced, but an investigation is ongoing.

Goo joined the K-pop group Kara in 2008, which kickstarted her career as an artist. Since then, she created a strong name for herself, both with the group and through solo work. Beloved fans of Goo have been grieving the news on social media, shocked and devastated by her passing. "Rest easy Goo Hara, we will always remember you as the talented beautiful woman you’ve always been," one fan tweeted. Another wrote, "For those that didn't already love you, you made your way into our hearts through Invincible Youth. Your dorky personality and bright smile was contagious. we will miss you dearly."

Earlier this year, Goo was hospitalized after she was found unconscious in her home, the BBC reports. In September of 2018, she filed a lawsuit against an ex-boyfriend, alleging that he was threatening to release nude photographers and a sexual video of her to potentially damage her career. Her former partner was found guilty for both crimes and sentenced to jail time.

The news of Goo Hara's death comes only a month after the passing of K-pop star Sulli, who was 25 years old when she died by suspected suicide. As Variety reports, Goo and Sulli were close friends. During an Instagram Live session in October, Goo described their relationship as "like a real set of sisters," adding: "Live well up there and do everything that you wanted to do. I will live hard and work hard for you."

This is a developing story. We will update with more information as it becomes available.
