Justin Bieber's 'Forever' Lyrics Illustrate How Deeply in Love He Is With Hailey Baldwin
Justin Bieber's Changes album features a lot of songs about his marriage to Hailey Baldwin and his intense feelings for her. But none express them quite as strongly as "Forever," his track with Post Malone and Clever.
As the title implies, "Forever" is lyrically about Bieber wanting to spend the rest of his life with Baldwin and asking her if she would do the same. At one point, he expresses shock that she made him want to commit ("Never thought I'd settle down, I cannot lie to myself / I was busy focusin' on bein' by myself / Set my feelings to the side, they all got dusty on the shelf / You wiped them down when I had nothin' left") after they got back together.
Bieber and Baldwin started dating in June 2018, just months after he and Selena Gomez went on a break turned breakup in March 2018. Gomez and Bieber dated on-off for almost a decade. Bieber told Zane Lowe on Apple Music this week that he wrote Changes during his first year of marriage and it reflects that time period. "This is an album I wrote in the first year of our marriage, so it's so fresh," Bieber said. "There's so much more to learn about commitment, and building trust, and foundation. I'm looking forward to continuing to build and make music that's going to reflect that."
Post Malone and Clever also sing on the track, with their own relationships potentially inspiring their verses. Post Malone has kept his love life relatively private. He was last linked to Ashlen Diaz, who he dated for three years before Us Weekly reported they split in November 2018. But the two have been on-off in the past, with Post Malone suggesting on Twitter that he and Diaz were together again in February 2019. "To the people trying to dig so fucking hard to try and get me to leave my girl, y’all ain’t real fans and it needs to stop," he wrote. "The past is the past and it has nothing to do with anything. Have some respect. Who gives a fuck? Let us live our lives."
Clever, meanwhile, has posted about his girlfriend Lyndsie on his social media, the likely muse of his verse.
