Justin Bieber Says There Was a “Lack of Trust” in His First Year of Marriage to Hailey
Fun fact: Justin and Hailey Bieber have been legally married for approximately two years and seven months already—feel old yet? I certainly do! Since Justin and Hailey had their official wedding ceremony in 2019, it’s been nonstop pics on Instagram of their blissful union. But as it turns out, marriage for Justin wasn’t always super easy in the beginning stages, as he explained in a new cover story for GQ.
FWIW, Justin said he was always “compelled” to get married and explained that it “just felt like that was my calling. Just to get married and have babies and do that whole thing.” Despite feeling like marriage was always part of his destiny, Justin said his own personal issues put a strain on his relationship and union with Hailey in their first married year.
“The first year of marriage was really tough because there was a lot going back to the trauma. There was just a lack of trust,” Justin told GQ. “There was all these things that you don’t want to admit to the person that you’re with, because it’s scary. You don’t want to scare them off by saying, ‘I’m scared.’”
Don’t worry about Justin and Hailey though—it seems like Justin’s trust issues were simply a lil rough patch that they’ve since worked out. Now, Justin and Hailey are better than ever and focusing on “creating these moments for us as a couple, as a family, that we’re building these memories.”
Justin added, “It’s beautiful that we have that to look forward to. Before, I didn’t have that to look forward to in my life. My home life was unstable. I didn’t have a significant other. I didn’t have someone to love. I didn’t have someone to pour into.”
So glad to hear Justin is in a better headspace these days!
