Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin skipped out on this year's American Music Awards missing Selena Gomez's opening performance of her new songs "Lose You to Love Me" and "Look At Her Now." The songs are about Selena moving on from her ex Justin, so it probably would've been a little awkward if the couple was there, but that's not the ready why they skipped out. Aside from a few features, Justin really hasn't released music in the past few years. He didn't have any nominations at this year's show, so he didn't have to be on-hand in case he won any.

Justin has actually skipped every award show since his appearance at the Grammys in 2016. Just last year, TMZ reported that he wasn't planning on making any award show appearances until the release of his next album, which will probably be out pretty soon.

According to People, an insider revealed that Justin was hoping to release his new album just in time for the holidays.

The source also said that Justin's preparing to hit the stage again, with Hailey by his side. "Justin is also preparing for a tour next year. He is in intense dance rehearsal." Justin was actually spotted arriving at a dance studio this weekend, so that may be another reason why he was a no-show at this year's AMAs.

Hailey's also pretty busy. She was recently in Germany for work and returned to LA for her birthday weekend. On Saturday, she enjoyed a low-key dinner with her husband.

Though Hailey wasn't at the awards ceremony, she did show Selena some support by liking a picture of Selena's look at the AMAs.

Sounds like things are pretty chill right now, at least until Justin's new album drops.
