Julie Chen Moonves
It's felt like ages since Julie Chen Moonves revealed three Big Brother alumni had snuck into the season 25 house to unleash a "time laser" and open up the multiverse to the new contestants. After nearly three months of secrets, conflict, twists, and plenty of vote flips, we're only two weeks away from the Big Brother 25 finale on November 9. But there's still so much to go for the remaining seven houseguests.
One of their biggest trials will take them by surprise during tonight's episode, as Julie will inform them of the second double eviction night of the season. Over the course of that hour, two houseguests will be sent packing, leaving the final five only a few rounds away from a chance at facing the jury and winning $750,000. But despite the chaos that a double eviction can bring, Julie thinks one particular person is in the most danger.
"Jag cannot play in the HoH tonight," she says in an exclusive interview with Parade.com. "So if Matt or Bowie Jane don't win, I can't imagine him not being targeted. We know America is gunning for him, and she can play tonight. And Cirie is well aware how to win these games, and you've got to get Jag out. And Felicia could probably be convinced of that as well. I mean, you're gonna take your shot when you have it. So I think he's the one that is most in danger tonight."
Read on for our interview with Julie Chen Moonves, which includes her thoughts on Jag and Matt's rise to power, how the rest of the season will work, and her picks for both the winner and America's Favorite Houseguest. Big Brother 25 airs on Sundays at 10:00, Tuesdays at 8:00, and Thursdays at 9:00 on CBS.
So let's start with tonight's double eviction episode. We know that Blue or America will be evicted first. But who do you think is most likely to go out the door after them?
Probably Jag, because he cannot play in the HoH tonight. So if Matt or Bowie Jane don't win, I can't imagine him not being targeted. We know America is gunning for him, and she can play tonight. And Cirie is well aware how to win these games, and you've got to get Jag out. And Felicia could probably be convinced of that as well. I mean, you're gonna take your shot when you have it. So I think he's the one that is most in danger tonight.
Over the past month, we’ve seen the Minutemen in Jag and Matt take control of the house, winning competitions and engineering the boots of Meme, Cameron, and Cory. What do you make of their game so far, and do you think they could or should make it to the Final 2 chairs together?
Well, I think that Matt has a soft spot in his heart for Cirie. Because I have seen he has warned her very recently--and I don't know if it made it on the Tuesday night episode--that Jag is onto her. So that tells me how loyal is he to Jag. This season has been the most disloyal group of houseguests I've ever seen. No real alliances have stuck together. Maybe little pairs of two her. Other than Cirie and her son Jared, I don't see any two that are really like, "This is my ride or die."
So I think them making it so far that has been on Jag's back winning competition after competition. And it's been interesting to see that Jag is so hard targeting blue two weeks in a row now. And in the beginning, they were best friends. She [said], "He's my bestie in the house." She was loyal to her boyfriend in the house, Jared, and then her bestie in the house, Jag. And Jag is doing the smart thing by targeting her because, looking at everyone who's in the house that he's not aligned with, other than Matt, she is the one who looks most likely to win competitions to stand in his way of winning this.
On the other side, we have Cirie, who had a lot of power in the first half of the season. She’s lost a lot of allies along the way, including her own son. And even recently we’ve seen Felicia incidentally throw her under the bus to Jag, causing him to trust her less. What do you make of her game and trajectory so far?
I definitely think she could pull up and make it to the Final Two. I don't know who she could win against without having any competition wins under her belt. She is a "survivor." She already has made it very far in this game. But other than sitting next to Bowie Jane, I'm not sure if she can win. But I think she has the likability factor where people on the jury may be convinced to vote for her. But not against Jag, but it will never be those two in the Final Two. She would never take him and he would never take her. My heart would love to see Cirie and Matt, but that was before Jag started winning everything. I mean, Jag, right now, he deserves it the most. We thought Cameron deserved it weeks ago when he was unstoppable after making his way back in the house surviving. But now, Jag is the one to beat right now. And he could leave tonight.
So we'll have five houseguests by the end of tonight, but only two weeks until the finale. Can you preview how the schedule is going to account for getting down to three houseguests before the last episode?
We have a Sunday live eviction show. That's how we're going to wind it down. So on November 5, that Sunday, it'll be a live eviction show. And then the Tuesday night show will be a look back at the season and I believe part one of the three-part final HoH competition.
Finally, who is your prediction to both win Big Brother 25 and America's Favorite Houseguest two weeks from now?
Oh my gosh, I've asked myself both these questions. And, pure guess, America's Favorite Houseguest, maybe Cirie. And who's going to win it? [Pause.] I don't know. I'm dumbfounded. Bowie Jane! I'm just kidding. I don't know. Felicia! I don't know.
