Julianne Moore Wore a Pair of Birkenstocks With Thousands of Dollars Worth of Valentino

For a while the shoe was controversial, but it's now a beloved summer staple thanks to endorsements by celebrities like Katie Holmes, Reese Witherspoon, and even Ashley Olsen. Not to mention the shoe was famously chic enough for the iconic Phoebe Philo's Céline runway, which means it's honestly more than good enough for any and all of us.
Julianne Moore recently showed her support for the sandal in an Instagram post where she wore thousands of dollars worth of Valentino with the classic Arizona sandal that retails for $125 at Nordstrom. The caption reads: "Valentino on top and Birkenstocks on the bottom. What will I do when I have to stand up?" And the answer is nothing, because the outfit truly looks perfect as is.
The appeal of the simple, subtle, and practical Arizona sandal is that it's the type of shoe you forget you're wearing. You slip into it and go on to live your day sans the blisters, drama, or sweat that are often associated with a pair of heels or platforms. And while Birkenstocks may not first come to mind when you throw on some Valentino, they easily make even the most expensive of outfits look more chill in the enviable French girl kind of way.
