JuJu Smith-Schuster helps Kansas City Chiefs win Super Bowl LVII

No one questions whether JuJu Smith-Schuster was actually held by James Bradberry late in Super Bowl LVII. The problem a lot of people had with the call is simply that it wasn’t enforced earlier in the game when Smith-Schuster was held on a 3rd and 8 but no flag was thrown. The inconsistency of the calls is what coaches, players and fans can’t stand. When the call is viewed from that vantage point, it becomes an understandable sore spot for a lot of people, especially Philadelphia Eagle fans.

On the matter of whether Smith-Schuster was held, however? There is zero debate … and Bradberry admitted as much after the game.

Let’s be clear: Regardless of what anyone might feel or think about that one call, Smith-Schuster is now a Super Bowl champion, the result of a terrific performance on football’s biggest stage.

Smith-Schuster helped Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid, and the Kansas City Chiefs win a second Super Bowl in four seasons — the Chiefs’ third as a franchise — in Super Bowl LVII. The former USC receiver gave a lot of good JuJu to the AFC champions, with 7 catches and a field-stretching presence which enabled Travis Kelce and the Kansas City running game to function well. The Trojan’s only quantity of bad JuJu went to the Eagles, who allowed 24 second-half points to an in-rhythm Chief offense.

Congratulations to JuJu Smith-Schuster, another USC Trojan with a Lombardi Trophy and a memory of a lifetime! Fully earned, richly deserved.
