Going on The Bachelor comes with a ton of rules, and one of them is agreeing to be on camera 24/7. This means that not *one* make-out session goes by without ABC’s producers lurking in the background all 👀. But if you make it to the final three, you get a rare night of privacy thanks to the infamous FANTASY SUITES.

What happens in the fantasy suites stays in the fantasy suites, and couples often use it as a chance to finally be, um, intimate with each other. To quote one anonymous contestant in Amy Kaufman’s book Bachelor Nation: “People underestimate how horny you get....After a while, I just wanted to fuck him so bad.”

Wow, poetry!

Naturally, we have some questions, starting with:

Do They Actually Have Sex Tho?

Yes. A hundred percent. While not every couple that spends the night together ends up having sex, plenty of couples just want to get it on, okay?! In an op-ed for The Hollywood Reporter, Bachelorette Andi Dorfman got real about the suites, saying, “Sure, most of the time there’s intimacy involved. But it’s not just physical, it’s emotional as well. The experience is a kind of unveiling of the fantasy, in an ironic way. It’s the first time you get to spend time with this person that you’re dating without producers.”

The concept of a TV show providing a sex night for contestants seems kinda...weird, but it actually makes sense. These people are expected to get engaged on the show, so it’s not exactly crazy to wanna have sex with the person you’re about to spend the rest of your life with!

What Do the Suites...Like...Look Like?

Basically, like a room you’re about to have crazy sex in. As Andi put it, “The show sets the mood by offering you a very romantic suite—usually in a beautiful location with added touches like rose petals across the bed. It feels like nothing short of a honeymoon suite.”

Important: Does ABC Provide Condoms?

Yep! Bachelorette Ali Fedotowsky told Entertainment Tonight, “I think maybe they give [condoms] to the guys, which is crazy. They should give to the girls, too, but I think they just [give condoms to the guys] to make it not awkward.”

Meanwhile, Chris Harrison joked about providing condoms for Peter “Four Times in a Windmill” Weber, saying, “Knowing what we had going in, we had to at least have half a dozen. We know four is on the table, so we have to be safer than that. We had to be safe with him.”

Wait, So Does the Bachelor Have Sex With 3 Different Women Back-to-Back?

Um, pretty much, yeah. Ali Fedotowsky said, “It’s like one day, one off night…so it’s every other night,” while Chris Soules confirmed, “You wake up kind of at your leisure (around 8 or 9 a.m.). The next morning, you’re preparing for your next date with the next girl.”

So, Where Are the Producers?

In the same FREAKING HOTEL. Amy Kaufman confirmed this in her book, saying a producer spends the night in the same place to keep “an ear” on things: “Producers almost always know what goes down behind closed doors because oftentimes, they sleep in the same two-room villa as the special couple—just a wall over, where they can literally hear what’s going on.”

And get this: apparently, the rooms are miked. An anonymous contestant revealed this horrifying detail to Celebuzz, saying, “First, there are no cameras filming the sex scenes in the room—but there’s never a microphone-free moment. Producers want you to believe you’re completely alone and they’re giving you privacy, but there are microphones everywhere. They’re secretly hoping you open up or say something juicy.”

What About STD Tests? Tell Me There Are STD Tests!

There are! Calm down! STD testing actually happens during auditions for the show, and as a result, a ton of potential contestants are eliminated. As Amy Kaufman revealed in her book, “If it turned out the person had an STD, they would be taken out of the running immediately. And apparently, that’s the top reason applicants don’t make it onto the show.”

Cool-cool-cool. Now ya know.
