Report: Josh Ho-Sang has requested a trade from New York Islanders
After failing to crack the Islanders lineup this week and then subsequently being placed on waivers, Josh Ho-Sang has reportedly made it clear that he wants out of Long Island.
General manager Lou Lamoriello confirms Ho-Sang’s agent request a trade on Thursday. The disgruntled forward has been told not report to the Islanders’ AHL affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound, as the team explores its options.

Ho-Sang was the team’s first round draft pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft and has since appeared in 53 games over three seasons, netting seven goals and 24 points. Last season with Bridgeport, Ho-Sang scored eight goals and 43 points in 56 games while adding two points at the NHL level.
For clarification, since Ho-Sang cleared waivers, any team that trades for him now can send him directly down to the AHL level. If he were to be claimed on waivers, that team would have had to place Ho-Sang back on waivers, which would have left without a rostered player when the season began last night. There very well may have been interest in Ho-Sang during the week, but claiming him off waivers would have been a hurdle for teams trying to get to a 23-man roster before opening night.
