Joseph Quinn Was Detained—and Freed!—At a U.S. Airport

Serious question: covering Joseph Quinn has to be the hottest beat in journalism nowadays, right? Before the world found out the fate of his Stranger Things counterpart, Eddie Munson, I talked to the actor, who revealed himself to be a pretty humble dude. A couple of weeks later, Doja Cat's grand plan to slide into Quinn's DMs instigated an entire news cycle. His face is plastered on a crop circle, somewhere in Indiana. Don't ask.

Well, there's a new episode of The Life and Times of Joseph Quinn. This week, Quinn—in an appearance on The Tonight Show—told Jimmy Fallon that he nearly missed the interview, because U.S. immigration detained him at the airport. “I was taken into, I guess you could call it more of a dungeon," Quinn said. "And I was asked to wait there for about 20 minutes and then I was summoned to this desk where someone asked me, ‘What are you doing in the United States, sir?’ I said, ‘I’m actually here to meet Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show. And he didn’t believe me.” You can genuinely imagine the exceedingly polite Quinn delivering this to a tough immigration officer, can't you?

Thankfully, there was a Stranger Things fan nearby. “One of his colleagues looked over at him, looked at me, and said, ‘Leave Eddie alone!'” Quinn continued. “And then [the other officer] said, ‘It’s Eddie from Stranger Things! And he was like, ‘You’re Eddie Munson?'” Damn right, he's Eddie Munson! Apparently, the other officer even asked Quinn if Eddie would return in Season Five, to which the actor replied, "I don't know." I'm not sure if I'd give the U.S. Department of Immigration any Stranger Things spoilers, either. That's important information.

Tune in next week, friends—we're sure Quinn's adventures have only just begun.
