Joseph Baena Showed Off His Strength While Celebrating His Relationship Anniversary
"Like father, like son" is an annoying cliché, but in this case, it's true. In a new Instagram photo, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son, actor and bodybuilder Joseph Baena flexes while simultaneously lifting his girlfriend to celebrate the couple’s one year anniversary. And the image looks like a photo taken straight from the Arnold archives.
In the picture, Baena shows off his buff physique and strength, lifting his girlfriend Nicky Dodja with just one arm. His other arm is free to flex, showing off muscles that only Schwarzenegger genes can create.
“One year with my partner in crime,” 22-year-old Baena captioned the photo. “Can’t wait for more the many more adventures, laughs and celebrations to come! I love you.”
Along with comments wishing the pair well on their anniversary, many followers of Baena commented how he looks "just like his dad." But even before Baena started pursuing a bodybuilding career, his resemblance to Schwarzenegger was uncanny—and much discussed.
Baena and his father made headlines in 2011 after Baena was discovered to be Schwarzengger’s secret "love child." Schwarzenegger had a sexual relationship with former housekeeper Mildred Baena, resulting in the birth of Joseph. Joseph’s resemblance to Schwarzenegger is what began suspicion of the infidelity, eventually leading to the end of Schwarzenegger’s marriage to Maria Shriver.
Even with a dramatic beginning to their father-son relationship, Joseph Baena and 72-year-old Schwarzenegger have since cultivated a close bond, especially with Baena pursuing a bodybuilding career. The two have often been pictured in the gym together and have celebrated life milestones in each other’s company, like Baena's 2019 college graduation.
