Jonathan Scott Shuts Down Rumors He Proposed to Girlfriend Zooey Deschanel

HGTV's Jonathan Scott and actress Zooey Deschanel have been dating for over a year. The couple appears more smitten than ever, most recently stepping out together to vote. On the latest episode of the SiriusXM podcast Covino & Rich, the men chatted with Scott about the recent rumors that were swirling about him and Deschanel taking the next step.

Host Rich Davis asked Scott to weigh in on a headline he read claiming the home renovation expert had "wedding fever." Scott responded that there was no truth to that and that he was fully aware of the hearsay going around. In fact, he shared that on a recent press tour, reporters asked him if he was engaged. Scott confirmed to Covino and Davis: "I'm pretty confident that I will ask my girlfriend to marry me before I tell a reporter."

The 41-year-old continued to comment on the headlines and articles he's read pertaining to his relationship. He noted that his twin brother, Drew Scott, had been woven into many of these false narratives.

"We were actually laughing because almost every story that comes out is 'Drew Gives Permission for Jonathan to Wed Zooey' or 'Drew Gives His Nod to the Relationship,'" Scott explained. "And so we coined the phrase, we were laughing, we're like, so is Drew my 'Brother-Daddy?' Does he have to approve everything that happens in my life?"

While it looks like Scott and Deschanel aren't saying "I do" just yet, Scott did praise his girlfriend for her stellar hairstyling skills. "She does my colors, trims me up, makes me look good," he told Covino and Davis. Back in April, Scott had also told People that Deschanel was the perfect person to quarantine with.

Scott and Deschanel met while filming Carpool Karaoke in August 2019 and started dating the following month. Scott was previously married to Kelsy Ully from 2007 to 2013. Deschanel was married to Jacob Pechenik from 2015 to 2019. She was also married to Death Cab for Cutie singer Ben Gibbard from 2009 to 2012. You can follow Scott and Deschanel’s relationship here.
