Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott

Jonathan Scott and Zooey Deschanel have been busy planning their wedding.

While appearing on the Oct. 25 episode of Pete Holmes' podcast You Made It Weird, the Property Brothers star shared details of the couple's upcoming nuptials, including a nod to his Scottish ancestry that his first wife Kelsy Ully vetoed.

Scott noted that he and the New Girl alum "know what [they] want to have" for their ceremony—and that includes bagpipes.

"The one thing that—it should have been a red flag for me and I kind of like glossed over and everything, but I'm Scottish, proud of my Scottish heritage…We had this beautiful outdoor wedding, our friends let us use their place on a lake. It was gorgeous. [But] she forbid me from having bagpipes play at any point during the wedding."

Scott then explained that he and Deschanel discussed what each other wanted, and she respected his desires.

"She literally knows the things that are important to me, the things that have hurt me," he said. "I've had other relationships where the person ended up doing the same thing that hurt me in a previous relationship. They knew that that was what happened in a previous life, and they still did it."

Scott and Deschanel got engaged in August. The HGTV star shared on the podcast that he popped the question at Edinburgh Castle in Scotland, with the help of Deschanel's two children Elsie and Charlie, who held up a banner that read, "Zooey, will you marry me?"

And yes, bagpipes played during the proposal.
