In late July, singer JoJo Siwa posted a TikTok that seemingly called Full House and Fuller House star Candace Cameron Bure the “rudest” celebrity she has ever met. Cameron Bure replied to the allegations after getting in touch with the 19-year-old, telling her followers that “there’s no drama” between the two.
But now Siwa’s mom, Jessalynn Siwa, has added her two cents on the matter.
On Tuesday, August 2, JoJo’s mother shared a clip on Instagram from a previously aired episode of her Success With Jess podcast in which she talks about the incident that led to JoJo’s characterization of Cameron Bure.
“I talked about this on my podcast a while back,” she wrote in the caption. “The recent story told wasn’t quite right, so here is the real version. At the end of the day, this story, it’s not about a simple photo, it’s about how you treat people. Real, genuine kindness always goes a long way. It’s super easy to quote a Bible verse when everyone is looking at you but morals are what you have when no one is looking.”
A refresher: JoJo Siwa answered various prompts about celebrities she’s met while lounging by the pool in a blue bikini last month. The caption reads “Pool day = exposed hahahaha.” Siwa does not speak at all in the video and instead shows pictures of her answers on her phone. The first prompt is “Rudest celebrity I’ve met….” The photo Jojo displayed alongside that text is a picture of Cameron Bure.
A few days later, the Full House star cleared the air for her fans. “Honestly, I was shocked when I saw the TikTok on Sunday, and had no idea where it came from,” Cameron Bure said. “I immediately tried to reach out to her through a mutual friend.”
Cameron Bure said she talked to JoJo on the phone. According to the actor, JoJo was offended that she had refused to take a photo with her at an event but had proceeded to take photos with other people. “She said she still loves watching Full House and watches it to fall asleep and it’s a comfort show for her so we had all the feels and it was all good, and there’s no drama. That’s the tea,” Cameron Bure said.
Jessalynn confirms that at the Fuller House premiere, Cameron Bure refused a selfie with JoJo saying, “Not right now.” She adds, however, that years later, when JoJo appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show alongside Cameron Bure, the actor “couldn’t be bothered.”
“Maybe she was having an emergency and her kid was crying and she was trying to get ahold of the babysitter,” JoJo Siwa’s mom continued. “I do not know what was going on, but it’s funny when you don’t know and somebody treats you like that. And it’s hard to be a celebrity, I’ll give it to you, but that was so long ago and I still remember it.”
