JoJo Siwa v. Candace Cameron Bure continues. The rivalry we never thought we needed but is, alas, keeping us engaged with the news has an update: JoJo Siwa has confidently declared that she does not have plans to speak to Candace Cameron Bure ever again.
Siwa, 19, talked to People at Disney+'s Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on Sunday, November 20 about her relationship (or lack thereof) with Bure. "We have not [talked], and I don't think we ever will again," Siwa said of Bure, referring to their most recent clash after Bure's controversial comments about “traditional marriage."
Siwa continued, “As I'm getting older, I'm starting to realize what an impact I really do get to have. I think that's a really cool position to be in. I am being honest and maybe being a little disruptive to somebody's life, but it's what I believe in. And so to have good people stand behind you with it felt really nice."
The So You Think You Can Dance judge, who suggested that Bure was the rudest celebrity she'd ever met in a TikTok posted over the summer, made amends with the Full House star after a phone call. But last week, the beef came back after Bure spoke about her Christmas films for the Great American Family network in an interview.
"I think that Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at the core," Bure told The Wall Street Journal last week. "My heart wants to tell stories that have more meaning and purpose and depth behind them. I knew that the people behind Great American Family were Christians that love the Lord and wanted to promote faith programming and good family entertainment," she said.
Siwa, who came out as gay in 2021, responded to Bure's words on Instagram. “Honestly, I can't believe after everything that went down just a few months ago, that she would not only create a movie with intention of excluding LGBTQIA+, but then also talk about it in the press. This is rude and hurtful to a whole community of people,” she wrote.
For Elton John's show, Siwa showed up in a flame-themed outfit that honored the music legend:
I think Siwa will be just fine.
