Johnny Manziel included in 'Legends' flag football game during Texas A&M spring game

Johnny Manziel will play at Kyle Field during Texas A&M’s spring game.

No, the 2012 Heisman winner isn’t playing in the game itself. But he’ll be a part of the program’s “Legends Game” flag football contest that will take place during halftime of the spring game.

The coaches for the game will be former Texas A&M defenders Dat Nguyen and Ray Mickens. Manziel, Stephen McGee and Bucky Richardson are listed as the quarterbacks for the game. We can assume two will be on one team and one will be on another, but A&M didn’t release the team rosters for the game.

Other players set to play include Rocky Bernard, Jason Glenn and Chris Harrington. There’s even a kicker in Scott Slater on the game roster. Maybe Slater will get to play wide receiver or something. We can’t imagine there will be field goals in a flag football game.

If Manziel’s attempted NFL comeback is legit, he should be the best player on the field and whatever team has him will be the favorite. The former Cleveland Browns first-round pick recently threw at Texas A&M’s pro day in front of scouts, though those scouts were undoubtedly there to see players like Texas A&M wide receiver Christian Kirk, who is set to be an early-round pick in the 2018 NFL draft.

Texas A&M’s spring game is set for Saturday, April 14. That’s just a few days after a Spring League football event in Austin that Manziel said he’s participating in on April 7 and April 12.
