John Travolta's Emotional Sign-Off to Olivia Newton-John: "Your Danny, Your John"

On Monday, Olivia Newton-John, beloved actress for her iconic roles in movies like Grease and Xanadu as well as her successful music career, died. She was 73. The news was confirmed by her husband, John Easterling, who revealed that Newton-John died at home at her ranch in Southern California, surrounded by loved ones via a statement.
"Dame Olivia Newton-John passed away peacefully at her Ranch in Southern California this morning, surrounded by family and friends," the statement read. "We ask that everyone please respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time. Olivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer." (The actress first battled cancer in the 1990s and, more recently, again in 2017.)
There was the usual flood of tributes following the shock news, though John Travolta's post in her honor felt especially charged. Travolta, of course, starred opposite Newton-John's sweeter-than-pie Sandy in the 1978 classic as the the slick-haired heartthrob Danny Zuko. And while they were both stars prior to getting cast in Grease, the film—considered one of the greatest musicals of all time—took each of them to new, blinding heights.
"My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better," he wrote on Instagram. "Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again." Travolta signed off the tribute on a heartbreaking note, "Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever! Your Danny, your John!"
