John Stamos dad-shamed over his baby carrier

Have mercy? Not a chance.

Some self-appointed parenting experts are taking John Stamos to task over a photo he posted on Instagram. The pic shows the Full House star taking in the bright lights of Times Square while his infant son, Billy, sits in a Mission Critical baby carrier.

It’s a sweet snapshot, but some fans have taken issue with the fact that Billy — who is 3 months old — is sitting in a forward-facing position. Many experts, including baby carrier brand BabyBjörn, advise waiting until an infant is at least 4 to 6 months old before giving them a world-facing view.

Stamos’s comments section is now full of unsolicited advice about how he should carry his child.

“He’s too young to comfortably and safely be worn forward-facing!” one commenter admonished the new dad. “His little hips are not ready!”

“Face him inwards for a few more months,” another fan advised.

“The baby should not be facing forward if he doesn’t have full head control,” another commenter wrote.

“The baby must go head to chest with you,” added another. “That’s the wrong way carrying him because his back suffers.”

“He is absolutely adorable, but he is way too young/little to be forward-facing in a baby carrier,” someone scolded. “You need one where baby’s tummy is against your tummy. My almost 10-month-old is still in a baby carrier where his tummy against my tummy.”

The dad-shaming comments didn’t go over well with some of Stamos’s fans, who leaped in to defend the star.

“Omg!!” a fan wrote. “Don’t worry about which way HIS baby is facing! At least his baby is safe with him and doesn’t look in pain or crying. No need to tell someone how to hold their own baby. We were all babies at one time and survived a lot more than this. He’s a great dad and that’s all that matters. Let it go, all you judgy parents!”

“Ignore the sanctimommies,” added another supporter.

Stamos, who is a first-time dad at age 54, isn’t the first celebrity parent to be criticized over a baby carrier. In 2015, Ryan Reynolds sparked concern after sharing a photo of him carrying elder daughter James in a carrier with her legs in a potentially dangerous position. And last year, Julia Stiles clapped back at mommy-shaming comments she received over a photo of her carrying her newborn son.
