Former TV presenter John Leslie has been charged with attacking a woman in a nightclub in the Soho area of London.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the news, saying that the Scotsman was informed of the indictment by post in early June. He is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on July 25 to face the one count of sexual assault.

The incident reportedly took place on 5 December 2008. The alleged victim was believed to be around 30-years-old at the time, but made the formal complaint at a later date.

In June 2017, the 54-year-old was accused of putting his hands down the back of a woman’s trousers while they were dancing in an Edinburgh nightclub.

He was detained and charged, however, Leslie denied the claims and was acquitted a year later following a two-day trial.

Around the time of the verdict, he described the ordeal as one of the worst experiences of his life and told The Mail on Sunday that he felt as if his “heart been ripped out.”

He continued: “I will be making a formal complaint to the police, but I also wouldn’t rule out a civil action. I blame the police. At the very least I’d like an apology.”
