John Legend is People Magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive" for 2019
Music superstar John Legend has a lot of wonderful accomplishments under his belt in a career that started not too long ago. He's an accomplished musician with an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award as well as an advocate for social justice issues. He's also a devoted father and loving husband to model/activist Chrissy Teigen, who does not play when it comes to him. Now Legend can add another accomplishment under his belt, and it's one many male celebrities have been chasing for years. John Legend can now add 'Sexiest Man Alive' to his repertoire.

The news came as quite a shock to Legend himself, considering that he is following in the footsteps of Idris Elba, who was voted People's 2018 "Sexiest Man Alive". Though he was honored he did take some time to poke a little fun at the situation. In a caption on Instagram Legend posted a side by side comparison of Elba from a steamy photoshoot with one from his days as a high schooler in 1995. In the hilarious caption he stated "1995 John would be very perplexed to be following 2018 @IdrisElba as #SexiestManAlive. Hell, 2019 John is about as equally perplexed but thank you @People for finding me sexy. I'll take it 🤓"Many fans and followers were impressed by People's selection of Legend for this year's coveted honor, but of course, his wife Teigen couldn't let the moment pass without giving her two cents on the situation.
Teigen, who is a constant presence on social media giant Twitter, posted a series of hilarious tweets both honoring Legend's newest accomplishment and also revealing that now one of her lifelong dreams has finally come true. In one tweet she writes "my secret is out. I have fulfilled my dream of having boned @people's sexiest man alive!! an honor!!!!!" In another tweet, she admits being ready for fans to disagree with People's decision by writing "I cannot WAIT for people to get mad about John being the sexiest man alive. it's my new Starbucks holiday cup". However, the funniest tweet came in the form of Teigen and Legend's children, Luna and Miles, who gave the best reaction to the news.
This is a great accomplishment for a man who has given back so much to humanity, and who also realizes he's in a position to help others by using his platform to invoke change. Congrats to John Legend for becoming People's Sexiest Man Alive.
