John Cena and Nikki Bella recently announced their shocking split just weeks before they were scheduled to get married, and now everyone's wondering what went wrong. But um, pretty high up on the list could be the 75-page contract that Cena made his then-girlfriend sign before she moved in with him.

We love you all ❤️

Those of you who watched the reality show Total Bellas (anyone? guys?) will recall that when Nikki decided to move in with her dude back in 2013, he made her sign some paperwork. What was in said paperwork, you ask? Oh, just casual things like a requirement to vacate his home ASAP if they split up. And a super friendly reminder that she's just a guest!

To quote: "I do not want there to be any misunderstanding regarding your presence at the home as my guest. In the event that I ask you to vacate the home, you agree to immediately vacate the home and remove any and all items you have brought into the home as soon as possible."

People points out that the contract was a major part of the couple's storyline on Total Bellas, and at one point Nikki opened up about the drama to her sister Brie Bella.

"I just don’t understand it. I just don’t know what to feel. I’m so confused," she said. "It kind of makes me second-guess where John and I stand in our relationship. I love John but maybe he knows that he doesn’t want to be with me forever?"

John's explanation for doing possibly the LEAST romantic thing ever? Protection! "Having been through that process, here is how I view it. It is like buying a handgun for home defense. It gives you a sense of security, and it gives you a failsafe in case something happens," he said during Total Bellas. "And those who buy a handgun for self defense pray, pray they never have to use it. Without it, it’s a dog fight. I had to have [Nikki] sign an agreement to live in the house. And that’s-it wasn’t a one-page, it’s a 75-page agreement."

Um. Kay. Suddenly this breakup is making a whole lot more sense.
