Joe Wicks has announced he'll be returning with new 'PE with Joe' video sessions in the wake of school closures.

Wicks, 34, shared the news to his Instagram account on Monday afternoon.

He said: "I've got some great news, I've decided I need to come back and be there for children during this time, through this lockdown when schools are closed to keep their exercise up, to keep their activities there, their energy, their mood, their mental health.

"I'm going to be doing PE with Joe live, three days a week Monday, Wednesday, Friday starting next week on the 11th."

The father-of-two went on to encourage his followers to spread the message.

"Children at home, they're not being as active. Their mental health is going to suffer and we need to be getting our kids moving," he added.

The fitness guru’s new sessions will start on his YouTube channel from Monday 11 January with 20 minute workouts for three mornings a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

The workouts will then stay up on the star’s channel meaning they don’t have to be followed live.

The Prime Minister is expected to lay out tougher measures to tackle the coronavirus infection rate in an address to the nation at 8pm on Monday night.

During the nation's first lockdown, Wicks held his morning exercise classes for 18 weeks and raised thousands for the NHS through donating the ad revenue he earned.

He returned during the second lockdown in November with 'Wake Up With Joe' which saw him share out three recorded exercise classes throughout the week on his channel.
