When you’re celebrating an anniversary with Sofia Vergara, plain old flowers simply won’t do. Just look to the photos of her wedding with Joe Manganiello, where the couple exchanged vows amid a shower of orchids. As it turns out, that wasn’t the only fairy-tale aspect of Vergara and Manganiello’s marriage—the couple also now have their very own book about their romance, written by Manganiello to commemorate their first anniversary.

On November 22, when the Modern Family actress and her counterpart exchanged gifts, Manganiello went truly above and beyond, surprising Vergara with a 40-page book he wrote about their relationship. “I wrote her a book as a gift for our first anniversary. It was about how we met—as well as our courting—and was about 40 pages long,” the Magic Mike costar told Cosmopolitan U.K. in a new interview. What exactly went into those 40 pages? Only Vergara and Manganiello know—that is, unless they decide to treat the rest of the world and Danielle Steel-loving book clubs to an official release.

One part of the book, however, that seems easily discernable is the moment Manganiello decided to pursue Vergara, which he opened up about in the interview. “I was on a press tour when I found out Sofia was single [after splitting from Nick Loeb],” he said. “My friend is an editor and told me she was about to make the announcement. I got her number from Jesse Tyler Ferguson [Vergara’s Modern Family costar], then flew to New Orleans to take her on a date.”

Though Manganiello said the moment he knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Vergara came later on. “Sofia and I have always put each other's well-being first, and that's how I knew she was the one,” he said.

Manganiello didn’t say whether or not his book included illustrations, but capturing both of their beauty on the page? That would be equally, if not more, impressive.
