Joe Keery's Hair Looks Nothing Like Steve Harrington's Anymore

Close your eyes and picture Joe Keery as Steve Harrington from Stranger Things. Go ahead, do it. With the utmost of confidence, I can firmly say that I know exactly what you’re thinking: You’re thinking about hair.

Alas, that gloriously wavy, somehow gravity-defying mane we all grew to love over the course of three seasons is no more. As noted by nearly everyone on Twitter, the 27-year-old Netflix star has cut his hair into something resembling a bowl cut, bangs and all. TBH, I get it; as someone who perpetually wonders “Wait should I get bangs?!” it’s hard to blame Joe for wanting a fresh look. But change is never easy, and the internet is not taking this one well.

Joe’s new cut seemingly made its debut on Thursday, September 12 when the actor and musician attended a Chanel dinner at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles. Pics of Joe’s hair soon hit social media, with many fans expressing bewilderment at the drastic change, while mourning the loss of the classic Steve ‘do.

“JOE KEERY WHAT DID YOU DO TO YOUR HAIR 😓” one fan exclaimed on Twitter, along with a photo of the actor at the Chanel event. “I really thought people were over-exaggerating about Joe Keery's hair,” another mused after realizing the truth. There were reaction gifs, “in memoriam” tributes, and pretty much everything in between.

While fans might be grieving Joe's stylish mullet we saw throughout Season 3 of Stranger Things, we have a bigger question for the actor: Did he make a Pinterest board filled with Harry Styles pics to show his stylist? We wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing this cut everywhere; after all, nearly every other fashion trend from the ‘90s and the aughts have started making a comeback — it’s only a matter of time before bowl cuts are the norm once again.
