Joe Jonas‘ DNCE is a pop band, but it looks as if the singer takes his inspiration from all genres of music. He shared his top songs of the year in a new Instagram post and Spotify playlist. From the looks of it, Jonas loves country music. His list highlighted the work of country artists like Kacey Musgraves, Chris Stapleton and Dan + Shay as well as rock artists, like Crosby, Stills & Nash.

Jonas’s list doesn’t only include new music. His first song is Musgraves’s “Slow Burn,” which came out this year, but there are plenty of classic songs on his list, too. The second song he picks, for instance, is Steve Monite’s “Only You,” which came out in 1984. There’s also the late Donny Hathaway’s cover of John Lennon’s “Jealous Guy.”

As for the music Jonas himself produced this year, DNCE released the EP People to People in June. It features four tracks, including “Still Good” and “TV in the Morning.” However, none of the band’s songs have been as popular as its 2016 breakout hit “Cake by the Ocean.”

Jonas’s post about his favorite songs in 2018 comes while he is on vacation with his fiancée, the Game of Thrones actor Sophie Turner. The couple is enjoying Switzerland with Joe’s brother Nick Jonas and his new wife, Priyanka Chopra, as well as Frankie Jonas and a few other pals.

Jonas isn’t the only high-profile person to share his list of favorite music from the year. Former President Barack Obama also shared his favorite songs, books, and movies from 2018 in an Instagram post last week. His taste is a little different from Jonas’s, but both of them included artists from a variety of genres. Obama‘s list, for instance, features artists from Janelle Monáe to Lord Huron.

The best of 2018 lists are also a great reminder that inspiration can come from anywhere.
