Joe Jonas was asked about his relationship with Taylor Swift on a recent episode of Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast.

The pair briefly dated back in 2008 and parted ways after Joe infamously ended things with Taylor "over the phone in 25 seconds" (according to Taylor on an episode of Ellen at the time). The two went on to release a number of songs about one another, including Taylor's "Forever & Always" and the Jonas Brothers' "Much Better."

However, the two have been on much better terms in the years that have followed — with Taylor even saying in 2019 that the pair "laugh" about her original Ellen comments. Joe and his wife, Sophie Turner, have demonstrated that they're fans of Taylor in recent years, and Taylor is widely thought to have sent them a present after the birth of their first child.

Of course, much of this has been dissected again amid the rereleases of Taylor's old records — prompting Dax to ask Joe about the relationship after "thousands of Taylor Swift rabid" fans went after Jake Gyllenhaal.

"I hope to think they like me," Joe said of the Swifties. “No one fucks with the Swifties, you know?”

“We don’t really have a nickname for our fanbase, but we get it,” he continued. “We understand, [they] get passionate about their artists and protective, like, ‘This is my artist, how dare you!'”

Joe further noted that, although he had made Taylor's fans "mad" in the past, he was “many, many, many years removed" from the whole situation.

As for Joe's own relationship with Taylor, he said, "I'm cool with Taylor. We're cool."

He's not the only ex of Taylor's to have recently talked about her fans — Taylor Lautner recently said that he's "praying" for John Mayer amid the announcement of Speak Now (Taylor's version).
