If we've learned one thing in the age of Zoom, it's to mute your microphone when not speaking. It's the golden rule of all video calls, but apparently not everyone has received this memo, as one director is being called out for insulting Euphoria star Lukas Gage's "tiny" home during his virtual audition.

On Friday, Gage posted a recording of his meeting with the unnamed director on Instagram, captioning the clip: "psa if youre a s— talking director make sure to mute ur s— on zoom mtgings."

In the video, a director, who mistakenly thought he was on mute, made disparaging remarks about the actor's rather normal-looking apartment to another person on the conference call. "These poor people live in these tiny apartments,” he said, adding, "Like, I'm looking at his background and he's got his TV and, you know." Lukas cut him off right there, and let the director know he just heard everything that was said.

"I know it’s a s—y apartment," Gage said, laughing. "Give me this job so I can get a better one." The director quickly realized his error and apologized for his comments. "Listen, I'm living in a four by four box. It's fine," Gage replied. "Just give me the job, and we'll be fine."

Many celebrities — including Maude Apatow, Lucy Hale, January Jones, Joe Jonas, Emmy Rossum, Barbie Ferreira, Kevin McHale, and Charlie McDowell — began voicing their support for Gage following the incident. "Classy response Lukas," January Jones wrote in the comments section of his post, adding: "What an entitled asshole, dm me who it was so I can make note not to ever work with that person."

Joe Jonas applauded Lukas for handling the situation "like a champ," while Emmy Rossum revealed that she had a sneaking suspicion of who was on the other side of the screen, writing: "If it’s who I’m thinking, he asked me to ‘audition’ for him once. But not to read a scene. He said he knew I could act. Just to come into his office in a bikini and do a twirl. No joke. THAT was the ask. My reps said he wanted to know if I was ‘fat right now.’ I believe I told my agent, ‘Tell him no thank you and to go f—ck himself.’”

Given the fact that Lukas posted the cringe-worthy exchange on social media, we're assuming he plans on taking his talents elsewhere — as he should!
