This story contains spoilers for You Season Four, Part One.

Oh, how the tables have turned. After watching the explosive midseason finale of You, I think it’s safe to say Joe Goldberg has his work cut out for him. With another killer roaming the streets of London, Netflix’s favorite anti-hero has an important decision to make. He can either stop the murders and risk his own livelihood—or join forces with Rhys and hope for the best. All will be revealed when You returns on March 9. Until then, Netflix released a teaser for the second half of the season, featuring a surprise guest from Joe’s past. Check it out.

Looks like one hell of a ride, right? Before we dive into what’s next for the Netflix series—trust us, there’s a lot to cover—here’s a quick refresher on all that’s happened so far.

In an effort to abandon his homicidal ways, Joe Goldberg moves to London, changes his name to Jonathan Moore, and becomes a professor at a posh university. His new life is quaint! Plus, he’s committed to, you know, not killing anyone else. But that all changes when a bloodthirsty murderer starts attacking people in the city. The killer targets Joe’s elite social circle, and is dubbed the Eat The Rich Killer by the press. Also, the killer knows who Joe really is—and is framing him for the attacks.

By the time the midseason finale rolls around, the identity of the Eat The Rich Killer is revealed. Rhys Montrose, a popular author, confesses his crimes to Joe and presents him with two options. Joe can either join him and take down everyone else, or Rhys will reveal Joe’s true identity and pin the murders on him. In the episode's final moments, Joe says to himself, “Whatever your big plans are, I need to stop you before you can hurt another soul and drag mine down with you.”

In an interview with TV Line, Sera Gamble, the series showrunner, spoke about the explosive ending. “Now we’re in a different kind of movie, one where we know who the killer is, so it really becomes more about the relationship between Joe and the killer,” she said. “I glibly refer to it as the serial killer buddy movie part of the season.”

“We’ve never seen Joe have a conversation with someone who is — I don’t know if we can say worse, but he’s just as bad,” Gamble continued. “And I will say that Rhy’s doesn’t suffer the same level of regret and shame that Joe does. That, to us, is fascinating.” Touche.

Thankfully, we don’t have to wait too long to see what happens next. Keep reading for everything you need to know about Season Four, Part Two of You.

You Season Four, Part Two Premieres This Spring

Part Two of Season Four premieres next month. Netflix spit the season up, presumably, to up the ante—but we only have to wait a month to see what Joe Goldberg will do. The final five episodes of this season drop on March 9.

Gamble also explained why You's creative team split Season Four into two different parts . “Greg [Berlanti] and I started our careers in network TV, so we never really stopped seeing a season in terms of having a great midseason cliffhanger,” she said. “So when Netflix said, ‘How would you feel about it?’ We were like, ‘Oh, it’s built for this.’ The whodunit is exactly five episodes long, and the second half is a totally different story about killers. We were delivering a giant estate fire and revealing the killer at the end of Episode Five. Why wouldn’t you divide the season into two pieces?”

Joe May Have Finally Met His Match

Rhys has the power to take Joe down at any minute, but will he? This character might be the only person dangerous and crazy enough to destroy Joe. Honestly, at this point, he's earned it—but I would be lying if I said I wasn't conflicted. If Joe goes down for a string of murders he didn't commit, will the people he's actually harmed get justice too? Or will their stories be overshadowed by the wealthier, and much more public, victims of this season?

The way I see it, Joe has a two options. He can succumb to his murderous nature and join Rhys on the dark side. Or, he could stick to his promise and find a way out of this. Neither choice will be easy, and each path comes with its own set of consequences. Whatever he chooses—hero (if you can even call it that!) or villain—Part Two will surely be worth the watch.
