Joe Alwyn Makes First Public Appearance Since Taylor Swift Split

It’s been several weeks since news broke of Joe Alwyn‘s split from pop superstar Taylor Swift, but the actor made his first public appearance since the breakup in style.

Attending a Celine dinner hosted by Hedi Slimane in Cannes, France, Alwyn donned a sleek black suit and satin shirt, accessorizing his get-up with black sunglasses and a gold chain necklace. Alwyn and Swift were romantically linked from 2016 to 2023, with countless outlets and sources reporting the end of their relationship in early April.

The star-studded soiree, which took place last week, marked a notable return to the spotlight for the typically private Harriet alum, who managed to turn heads with his effortlessly cool look.

For the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc event, the 32-year-old Conversations with Friends star sported a rosy Celine button-down top layered over a white tank top.

He topped it all off with a silky black suit and black dress shoes. He styled his blonde hair in a textured, voluminous ‘do and also rocked a manicured goatee. Other notable guests at the dinner included Kaia Gerber, Future, Lisa from Blackpink, and BTS singer, V.

Why Did Joe Alwyn & Taylor Swift Call It Quits?

News of the end of Alwyn and Swift's six-year relationship first broke on April 8th, as Entertainment Tonight reported that they part ways "a few weeks" prior. Soon after, People Magazine confirmed the split, citing the reason for it as "differences in their personalities."

A source reportedly told the outlet that the Favourite actor and 33-year-old Grammy winner "had rough patches before and always worked things out, so friends thought they would take some time apart but eventually come back together." Ultimately, an insider dished to the outlet at the time, they just "weren't the right fit for one another."

One week later, TMZ published pics of Alwyn out and about in London, but this Celine dinner is his first official appearance since the shocking split. Swift, however, was spotted in New York City just two days after the news broke, dining with musician Jack Antonoff and Maid star Margaret Qualley.

Since then, she's seemingly moved on with her rumored new boyfriend, The 1975 frontman Matty Healy, who she has been seen spending time with while playing shows across the nation for her Eras Tour.

On May 24th, Swift released a never-before-heard track, "You’re Losing Me," with heartrending and poignant lyrics that fans think are related to her breakup with Alwyn.

While Alwyn has remained tight-lipped following the split, Swift said to her Foxborough, Massachussetts tour stop crowd last week, "I've just never been this happy in my life, in all aspects of my life ever."

In a fan-shot video shared on TikTok, the "Anti-Hero" hitmaker added, "And I just want to thank you for being a part of that. It's not just a tour, I just sort of feel like my life finally feels like it makes sense."
