Joe Alwyn Is "Flattered" Taylor Swift Writes Songs About Him

He isn't taking the bait.

This week, Joe Alwyn reached a major milestone in his relationship with Taylor Swift: an interviewer asked him how he feels about the fact that Taylor writes songs about him.

The Sunday Times reportedly asked Joe if he minds when Taylor is “dedicating entire love songs to him," and his response was pretty classy. "No, not at all. No. It’s flattering," he said, according to Just Jared Jr.

Taylor Swift has historically made no secret of the fact that her lyrics pull from real-life experiences...which, like, of course they do? Songwriters often pull from their own lives, this is not a shock throughout all of musical time. But Joe is only the most recent boyfriend of Taylor Swift to be asked this honestly kind of annoying question. In 2017, Cameron Crowe asked Harry Styles about the same topic, and his response was extremely perfect.

"I write from my experiences; everyone does that. I'm lucky if everything [we went through] helped create those songs. That's what hits your heart. ... In writing songs about stuff like that, I like tipping a hat to the time together," he said. "You're celebrating the fact it was powerful and made you feel something, rather than 'this didn't work out, and that's bad.' And if you run into that person, maybe it's awkward ... but you shared something."

It's not really clear what these interviewers hope these men are going to say, but Joe isn't taking the bait.

As he told The Sunday Times, "I just don’t pay attention to what I don’t want to pay attention to. I turn everything else down on a dial. I don’t have any interest in tabloids. I know what I want to do, and that’s this, and that’s what I am doing.”
