Joan Smalls Kicks Off New York Fashion Week in 2 Sultry Minidresses

New York Fashion Week is back, and legendary model Joan Smalls is here to prove it.

This week, the star kicked off the stylish festivities by attending a series of glamorous parties—each in a sultry minidress.

On Thursday, Smalls stepped out in Manhattan wearing a form-fitting little black dress with a sexy side cutout. The one-shoulder piece was held together by black straps that ran down one side in a zigzag pattern and were embellished with silver hardware. "BDE," Smalls captioned an Instagram post featuring photos of the look.

On Wednesday night, the model stopped by Nordstrom's annual NYFW dinner, which this year was hosted at American Bar and celebrated the brand's fall 2022 campaign, curated by Rickie de Sole with Tonne Goodman.

For the evening, the model—who was part of the campaign, along with Shalom Harlow and Meghan Roche—opted for a fiery red leather minidress with thick straps and a heart-shaped neckline. She styled the piece with bedazzled silver sandals with chunky heels and matching layered bracelets.

Later that night, in the same look, plus a metallic purple shoulder bag, Smalls went out to celebrate friend and fellow model Karlie Kloss's 30th birthday. Smalls, Kloss, Ashley Graham, Kate Hudson, Irina Shayk, and Christy Turlington brought out their best party looks to reunite at Torrisi restaurant in Nolita for the occasion, with the birthday girl looking radiant in a bejeweled golden long-sleeve midi dress. "Thirty, flirty and thriving," she wrote on Instagram, next to a carousel of photos of the night.
