Nothing but respect for Spider-Man.
On Tuesday's episode of his late-night show, the TV host shared that the former Spider-Man jumped into action during the opening number, in which dancers were “banging…spears around,” to protect him and his table-mates when one became a projectile, per Yahoo.
“About halfway through the dance, the tip of one of the spears comes flying off the handle straight at us, at our table,” he shared. “And out of nowhere, and I swear to God this happened, Andrew Garfield lunges forward and snatches it out of the air. Like Spider-Man!”
Kimmel went on to insist that Garfield may really be the iconic superhero that he has portrayed throughout several films. “Just as Spider-Man would have done were he in an undercover situation. His shirt came open. My wife almost had to be resuscitated,” he joked.
Kimmel then shared a photo of himself with Garfield and the spearhead together at the Emmys, revealing that he’d saved the would-be weapon as a souvenir.
“Well, here I am with the superhero who saved our lives,” Kimmel said, adding, “With great power, comes great reflexes.”
While the spearhead was surely fake, it looks hefty enough that the impact alone probably would've caused some damage. So here's to the IRL superhero!
