Jimmie Allen Opens Up About His Relationship With Wife Alexis Gale

• Rising country star Jimmie Allen and his wife Alexis Gale met in the spring of 2019.

• The couple got engaged a few months later in June 2019, and got married in a private ceremony in June 2020.

Jimmie Allen, the 36-year-old singer (and ACM Awards co-host!), hails from Delaware and is known for catchy country tunes.

They met through his cousin.

Jimmie and Alexis’s story seems like the plot of a fan-favorite rom-com. While the pair grew up in Milton, Delaware, they didn’t actually meet until the spring of 2019 when Jimmie’s cousin’s wife introduced them.

“With Alexis being from my hometown, it is like always having a piece of home with me. We had an immediate connection,” Jimmie told PEOPLE. “It was like we’d always known each other.”

Soon after, he popped the question.

After dating for just a few months, Jimmie popped the question to Alexis on June 15, 2019. The big moment took place at Disney World surrounded by family and friends in front of none other than Magic Kingdom’s iconic castle. (Like we said, a real-life fairytale!)

While some people might think the pair moved fast, sometimes when you know, you know. And, for Jimmie, there was never even a question.

"Her smile melts me, her pure heart challenges me to love better, the way she motivates and supports me is unlike anything I’ve ever seen, the way she loves me and my son is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced," Jimmie shared with PEOPLE. "It feels incredible to find the type of love I’ve been writing songs about all these years!"

They were married in secret.

While the couple posted photos of a picture-perfect wedding on May 27, 2021, Jimmie and Alexis later revealed that they'd actually married a year before in a private ceremony. The nuptials took place in Delaware on June 18, 2020 (Jimmie's birthday!).

Jimmie admitted that marriage wasn't always on his mind. He told People, "I wanted to be a dad, but I never wanted to get married. Alexis changed that."

They have a growing family.

Jimmie and Alexis have three children. They welcomed their baby girl, Naomi Bettie Allen, on March 1, 2020. While Naomi is their first child together, the couple has also been raising Jimmie’s 7-year-old son, Aadyn, from a previous relationship.

The couple recently welcomed their newest addition, Zara James Allen, to the family on October 16, 2021. Amongst all of the excitement, Jimmie had some dancing shoes to fill and flew from Nashville to Los Angeles the very next day to continue performing on Dancing With the Stars.

Jimmie told People that he couldn't be happier to be having another daughter: "That's like nine more years of Disney princesses! I'm obsessed with Disney World. I've always wanted to go inside a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique."
