Jimin of BTS Has Debuted a New Tattoo

These days it’s not uncommon to see celebrities flaunting their new ink on social, but the members of BTS are much more reserved when it comes to tattoos — that’s why fans are looking at Jimin’s potential new ink with a magnifying glass.

On March 26, Jimin took to VLIVE (twice) to chat with ARMYs. During his live broadcast, the “Promise” singer discussed everything from his hair length to the story behind the “dumpling incident” line from Map of the Soul: 7’s “Friends.” But he needn’t talk for ARMYs to notice an extra detail present in the video.

While Jimin was nonchalantly chatting (complete with a bathroom break), ARMYs noticed what looks like a new tattoo on the inside of his left wrist. The tat is a small and simple “13” done in fine line black ink.

As many fans noted, the number 13, though commonly associated with bad luck in some places, holds a special meaning for Jimin as it marks both his birthday (October 13, 1995) and a double nod to BTS’s debut date (June 13, 2013).

“jimin's ₁₃ wrist tattoo means both bangtan’s debut date and his birthday, his tattoo's really holds a deep meaning to him,” an ARMY noted after seeing the tat. “Jimin wrist tattoo is so beautiful.... number 13 has many meanings and must be really important to him,” another one added.

Though we can’t for sure know whether the ink is real or not until he confirms it himself, this isn’t the first time the little “13” has made an appearance. Fans first spotted it during the Comeback Special that aired on VLIVE on February 21, just before the album drop. However, many believed it was drawn by a pen then.

Eagled-eyed fans later also spotted the “13” on another BTS’s VLIVE broadcast and during Mnet’s comeback special stage on February 27, when the septet performed “Black Swan.”

The “13” marks Jimin’s second tattoo (that we know of). Jimin’s first tattoo — the word “Nevermind” across his ribs — has also been a topic of discussion among ARMYs for a while. Jimin first unveiled the tattoo back in 2014 during a MAMA performance. The jury is still out on whether that was a permanent tattoo or body paint, but one thing is for sure, somewhere along the line it became permanent. And even if they aren’t, we love them and we’re here for Jimin expressing himself through body art — in whatever form that might be!
