Jets' Mark Letestu to be sidelined for 6 months with heart virus
The Winnipeg Jets are down another man.
Head coach Paul Maurice said on Thursday that forward Mark Letestu will be shut down for at least six months — likely ending his season — after he was diagnosed with myocarditis.
The heart virus is not life threatening and likely won’t be career threatening, but it will be at least six months before Letestu can get back to playing, noted Ken Wiebe of The Athletic.
Letestu joins teammates Patrik Laine, Nathan Beaulieu and Maple Appleton on the IR, while Dustin Byfuglien is still suspended from the team on a technicality for not reporting to camp. He recently underwent ankle surgery that will sideline him for several months.
