Jessica Simpson is getting back to her gym grind.

In a post shared Tuesday on her Instagram page, Simpson, 41, revealed she's working out again after taking a break, telling her 5.6 million followers that it's a little tougher than she expected.

"First day back at it and I'm already hurtin' and feelin' real dramatic about being sore," wrote the mother of three on Instagram while striking a pose on the treadmill. "I have been craving this, but procrastinating. One workout and I am determined to not let myself down. Although I will be eating a brownie to give myself some points! #beastmode #goMOMSgo." Simpson's followers then cheered her on in the comments, with one fan writing, "Go Jess go!" Another also exclaimed, "Get it!"

Back in September 2019, Simpson revealed that she had lost 100 pounds after giving birth to her third child, daughter Birdie Mae, in March of that year. "6 months. 100 pounds down (Yes, I tipped the scales at 240 😜)," shared Simpson on Instagram at the time. "My first trip away from #BIRDIEMAE and emotional for many reasons, but so proud to feel like myself again. Even when it felt impossible, I chose to work harder. 💚"

Although Simpson didn't share a lot of details at the time about how, exactly, she lost so much weight, her trainer, Harley Pasternak, later opened up about the routine that helped the singer meet her goals. In a May 2020 interview with E! News, Pasternak — who has also worked with Halle Berry and Eva Mendes — said Simpson's weight loss was about a lifestyle change, not just shedding pounds. The celebrity trainer added that he, along with Simpson and her doctor, worked together to formulate a plan that would work for her. "It had to be more than just getting back from her baby weight, but how do I keep whatever I am doing now forever," he said. "That's why we are not a big fan of doing any extreme diet or radical forms of exercise."

Simpson's workout plan was all about walking 14,000 steps a day, but Pasternak had her start out with 6,000 steps at first before gradually ramping things up. Pasternak also worked with Simpson to find healthier swaps of her favorite foods, with a focus on lean proteins and vegetables. She ate three meals a day, along with two snacks, such as parmesan green beans and a handful of almonds. Pasternak also allowed for some cheat meals, which he said makes healthy eating "more balanced and sustainable."

In terms of Simpson's exercises, Pasternak eventually introduced full-body workouts every other day. The duo also kept track of Simpson's progress through daily emails that included her step count, what she ate, and a screenshot of her Fitbit (Buy It, $100, fitbit.com), according to E! News. Pasternak, who worked with Simpson after she gave birth to her two eldest children (she shares daughter Maxwell, 9, and son Ace, 8, with husband Eric Johnson), also told E! News in May 2020 that Simpson didn't want to just get in shape — she wanted to change her lifestyle. "We were kind of just getting in shape between kids and now it was sort of 'OK, I want to look fierce again and look great, confident and energized and I want to do it in a sustainable way. That was her main goal," he said.

And, as Simpson told Today in April, she doesn't obsess over the scale. "I have no idea how much I weigh," she said at the time. "Like, I just want to feel good and be able to zip my pants up. If I don't, I have another size. I have every size."
