Jessica Simpson Celebrated Her 40th Birthday By Rocking A Pair Of 14-Year-Old Jeans

  • She's had the pair since she was 26 and still fits into them after getting back in shape post-pregnancy.

  • In September 2019, Jessica revealed that she'd lost 100 pounds after giving birth to her third child, Birdie.

To celebrate turning 40 on July 1o, Jessica Simpson threw on an old pair of jeans. That might sound like NBD, but she basically proved she's aging in reverse—since she's had the pair since she was 26.

"I have kept these throwback True Religion jeans in my closet for 14 yrs (I’m not exaggerating!)," she wrote in the caption of a mirror selfie on Instagram. "I figured that since I’m in the final hours of my 30’s I’d give them another try, and hello 40, so nice to meet you 🤸🏼♀️🙌🏼."

Jessica hasn’t said much about her workout routine and everyday diet lately, but back in September 2019, she shared that she’d lost an amazing 100 pounds after giving birth to her daughter, Birdie.

Jessica didn’t offer up many details of how she did it at the time, but her trainer Harley Pasternak later told People that there were a lot of moving parts involved.

Pasternak said he and Jessica took a holistic approach to her health post-baby. "The difference between this and the other times was that she worked out, yes, but her transformation was more about what she did on her own time," he said. "I’ve kind of helped her come back after each baby, and this is a bit different, in that she said she was tipping the scales at 240 [post-delivery]. This is sort of the aggregate of being pregnant nonstop for a decade, and so we had a little more of a challenge between this and the other ones."

More specifically, Harley said Jessica took these steps:

  • She walked 14,000 steps a day.

  • She ate three meals and two snacks that included a mix of protein, fiber, and fat.

  • She did 45-minute sessions with a trainer, three days a week.

  • She unplugged for at least an hour a day.

  • She tried to get at least seven hours of sleep a day.

Jessica shared on Instagram in late May that she’s still moving a lot. "Woke up before all 3 kiddos to get my steps in and spend time with me, myself, and I. Move move move for your own mental health. 💪🏻," she wrote.
