There were plenty of head-turning dresses at the 2017 SAG Awards, but one actress said she had to consult her mother before hitting the red carpet in her look for the evening.
Jessica Pimentel turned out last night in a very sexy number from designer Malan Breton, who has dressed the likes of NeNe Leakes, Kylie Minogue, and Ariana Grande. The dress was a brown sequined piece with cutouts galore, and a thigh-high slit to boot.
“I had to have a meeting with my mom about [my dress] before she saw it on television,” Pimentel told WWD. “My mom is very conservative, and this dress is the opposite.”
However, although the dress was a bit risqué, there was a deeper meaning beyond just a sexy look. It was crafted from paillettes made from recycled bottles. Breton told Yahoo Style via email that the look “is inspired by the indigenous people of Taiwan, the butterfly, and the sculptures of Erte.” It took six weeks for Breton “to perfect the curve, and to give the proper illusion,” though he mentions in spite of the hard work, Pimentel was “an absolute dream to work with.”
What do you think of Pimentel’s revealing look?
